Behind the Hoardings: Lighting up the skyView Images
Despite the wettest March since 1982 (really!), work on Project 22 has progressed very well over recent weeks, and it was fantastic to see the fully clad sports hall on our recent blog visit. The subtle Equitone Tectiva cladding really brightened up the sky on a dull and rainy day!
Inside the sports hall M&E 1st and 2nd fix is underway with the installation of both the Monodraught ventilation unit and the air source heat pumps. This efficient and environmentally friendly system will control both the temperature and air quality in the large sports hall. The changing facilities are now fully plastered and tiled in preparation for the flooring and decoration.
Work on finishing the DT room is at an advanced stage with a large team from Baudelaire Ltd completing the 2nd Fix. This bright and open space is so much bigger than our previous DT facility and will enable our students to use even more exciting equipment and technology.
The impact that both the sports hall and DT room will have on our students and staff cannot be underestimated. Project 22 provides a huge opportunity to create an even more dynamic curriculum at The Abbey, and we feel very fortunate to record its journey from design to reality.
